Creating HDR Images with a Canon EOS 550D

 In this post we will discuss how to create an HDR photo using a Canon EOS 550D.

What is HDR / HDRI ?

High Dynamic Range Imaging (HDRI or just HDR) is a set of techniques that allow a greater dynamic range of luminances between the lightest and darkest areas of an image than standard digital imaging techniques or photographic methods. This wider dynamic range allows HDR images to more accurately represent the wide range of intensity levels found in real scenes, ranging from direct sunlight to faint starlight.

Some devices such as the IPhone 4 will do all the processing for you and just delivers you an HDR pictures. I'ts fast and easy but you just don't have any rendering option. Thus I prefer to do it "manually" and then to choose the HDR method, the renderings, gamma, saturation and lot fine tuning setting. Doing so you often get a much more beautifull image.
